Frequently asked questions, seasonal Flower availability guide & Sustainability

  • A changing climate and a very in demand supply chain means that while we will plan and discuss the best options for your wedding, we can not always 100% guarantee exact colours and flowers. As always, I will do my very best to source exactly what you are after from what is available at the Melbourne Flower Market.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page for a bit of a seasonal guide.

  • Fill out the Contact Form and I will send you a Price Guide for my services. Every wedding will involve different size and style arrangements with different florals so for a tailored quote, I will organise a consultation either in person or via Zoom so that we can go over all the details of your event.

  • I work from a home studio in Geelong and I am available for events in Geelong, Melbourne, Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and beyond!

  • Yes, I have a minimum spend of $3,500. This is because I limit the number of events per month so that I can give every event the love and focus that it deserves. The minimum spend is inclusive of any delivery and set-up costs.

  • Charged separately from the items for your wedding, your event will also incur a set-up fee which covers the time associated with carefully packing everything into the van, travelling to you to deliver your flowers, travelling to the venue to ensure the set up of all ceremony and reception flowers are all ready for your start time. This includes an appropriate number of staff to make sure the designs can be executed within the venue’s bump in timeline.

A bump out fee covers the cost of us returning to the venue at the end of the event and collecting all hired items (vases, candles, stands) and removing any leftover flowers and foliage. Any leftovers will be composted.

  • Dahlias forever!

Sustainability

Floristry is a pursuit aligned with the beauty of nature however this often is at odds with what is best for the environment. There is a lot of waste and energy associated with preparing flowers for our enjoyment.

While I am not claiming to be 100% sustainable, I am always trying to evolve in this area and offer a service that has a minimal impact on the environment.

These are some of the ways that I work to reduce my impact:

  • No Floral Foam: Floral Foam is a single use plastic product that is often used in creating centrepieces, ceremony flowers and arbours. Floral foam does not break down for hundreds of years and contains thousands of toxic and carcinogenic particles which are dangerous for humans to touch, as well as for wildlife when drained into our waterways. While convenient to use for event set ups, it is important to move away from this product. I use a mix of recycled chicken wire, vases and water vials to achieve the same designs and do not use foam. #nofloralfoam

  • Reduced imported flowers: Imported flowers come along with the carbon footprint of lots of air miles. To mitigate any biohazard risk to Australia, all imported flowers must be dipped in glyphosate - not a chemical that is really safe to be handling on flowers. We are so lucky to have lots of amazing suppliers in Victoria and I try to select 90% of any of my flowers from Australian growers. I usually have to cave to include beautiful orchid stems but I try to work with clients to encourage with minimal imports.

  • Waste: At the end of the event, I seperate out all the flowers and foliage from any ties or elastics and ensure everything green is composted. All plastic sleeves from the flower bunches are recycled at a soft plastic recycle point. I reuse all chicken wire and water vials. The main waste resulting from the mechanics of an arbour or hanging installation are cable ties.
